OrangeGas expands CNG network in Germany

OrangeGas, which operates CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) filling stations in Netherlands and in Germany, has taken over 12 CNG fuel pumps from Mabagas Kraftstoff.

Hamburg, June 20, 2018 – OrangeGas, which operates CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) filling stations in the Netherlands and in Germany, has taken over 12 CNG fuel pumps from Mabagas Kraftstoff. The transaction was closed on June 15, 2018. As a result, OrangeGas will cooperate with OIL! Tankstellen in future, as 11 of the 12 CNG fuel pumps are located at their service stations.

As background for the decision to sell the CNG sites Mabagas Kraftstoff mentions the small number of fuel pumps, which cannot be operated with sufficient scale effects. Things looks different for OrangeGas: The company, founded in 2008, is the market leader in the Netherlands with 73 CNG filling stations. In Germany, OrangeGas currently operates 35 CNG filling stations together with the new acquisition and continues to expand.

The company plans to push the expansion of CNG mobility and to operate CNG filling stations economically at the same time. Over the next three years, the network in Germany is to be expanded to 150 CNG filling stations. For comparison: More than 900 CNG filling stations are currently available to environmentally-aware drivers throughout Germany.

Robert Kurtze, Managing Director OIL! Tankstellen, says: "Beyond the current transaction, we see potential for future cooperation. With OrangeGas we have found an independent partner who is specialized in selling clean fuels in Germany and the Netherlands and has the ambition to further expand the business.”

“This is a big step forward for our plan in Germany”, comments CEO Marcel Borger of OrangeGas. "We are pleased to have found in OIL! a partner whose network offers great potential for further growth. Our goal is to expand the network in Germany and to become the market leader here as well.”

OrangeGas Germany GmbH is a subsidiary of OrangeGas B.V., which was founded in 2008 in the Netherlands and has focused on alternative fuels ever since. The company currently operates 73 CNG filling stations, making it the market leader in the Netherlands. OrangeGas has also been represented in Germany since 2017.

OIL! Tankstellen GmbH & Co. KG is a subsidiary of Mabanaft, the trading division of Marquard & Bahls, Germany.
