This weekend was the first competition of the Marathon Cup. The Marathon Cup is the National Dutch Competition in Marathon speed skating in which 60 laps are ridden. OG HERO Famke Minnee made her debut during this competition and immediately took the win in the Under-23 category.
The debutant won in the 60th lap the sprint from a small group that escaped from the peloton in the final stage. With this victory our OG HERO not only leads the general classification, but also the youth classification! In addition, she gets to ride in the orange leader's suit at the next race in the Marathon Cup on October 6.
In total there are nine races in the Marathon Cup where points can be gained for the final classification.
